New Video || Immortal- All Shall Fall
Fri, 09/03/2010 - 11:19 | by JDeathscriptThat was awesome! Exactly what an Immortal video should be: snow, corpse paint, mountains, all four members of the band, and Abbath’s amazing crab dancing skills. Sure nothing much is going on save a few ravens flying around and the band playing their jam atop a snowy summit but you won’t catch me giving a shit -- this is Immortal’s first video in almost 15 years! I’m happy to get anything at all. I know that this somewhat wholly contradicts many of the statements I made yesterday about "band's and their crappy forest videos, blah, blah, blah". I know. Immortal is one of a few exceptions.
Watch: Geraldo's 'Exposing Satan's Underground' Special
Fri, 09/03/2010 - 10:49 | by JDeathscriptFor reasons unknown to me, I've recently developed something of a fascination with these hysterical media types of the past that sought to demonized and destroy music, P&P RPG's, video games, or any other relatively harmless forms of escapist entertainment they perceived as a threat. In the 1980's the godfather of these witch hunts was a man I'm sure many of you have heard of, cursed the name of, or generally despised; Geraldo Rivera. Geraldo has had his fair share of media mishaps (Google Geraldo's Vault) but one of the most detrimental was his involvement in perpetrating Satanic Panic.
For those of you too young to remember, Satanic Panic was a dark period of the 80's (When wasn't though?) in which there was a literal outpouring of claims involving ritual sacrifice, child murders, rape, self-mutilation -- the list goes on and on, but all of these things were linked in one way or another to devil worshiping cult and to some extent heavy metal.
New Video || Kamelot- The Great Pandemonium
Thu, 09/02/2010 - 16:46 | by JDeathscriptKaaaaaaaameeeeeeelooooooooot! Wow, for a band already known to pull out all the stops, Kamelot really pulled out all the stops for this video. Or more appropriately Village Road Films and director Owe Lingvall pulled out all the stops and the band threw money at them like they were midget strippers. It’s worth it though, the video is a robust and daring piece of artistry, encompassing a scope of everything from bizarre and creepy, to downright beautiful.
If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for these kinds of videos that utterly decimate their peers that opt for a live shot/band playing in a warehouse video clip.
The track, The Great Pandemonium, comes off Kamelot’s ninth studio album, Poetry For The Poisoned, which will hit stores and iTunes in North America on September 14 (September 10 for the rest of the world). The record will be released via Kamelot’s very own record label KMG Recordings. All hail Kamelot!
New Video || Insidious Disease- Boundless
Thu, 09/02/2010 - 12:52 | by JDeathscriptInsidious Disease really turns up the freaky factor with their new video for Boundless which follows a pair of serial killers, ala The Hillside Stranglers, documenting a night of brutal misogyny that ends with a body in the trunk.
Incase you’re unfamiliar with Insidious Disease or their previous moniker, Insidious, they’re an international metal super troupe featuring ex and current members of Dimmu Borgir, Napalm Death, Old Man’s Child, and Morgoth. The dropped their debut record, Shadowcast, a few months ago on Century Media Records.
When they’re not spreading their misanthropic message or filming serial killers filming their crimes, the band has made appearances at Wacken, a few other venues in Europe, and plans to tour early next year.
Video || Noctem- Divinity
Wed, 09/01/2010 - 15:30 | by JDeathscriptNoctem is awesome. I say this having only heard them for the first time today, but I quite enjoy what I have heard thus far. It’s pretty clear from watching the video above that they’re Spain’s answer to Behemoth. Very cinematic, huge compositions, sweeping symphonies and a smearing of evil-- Noctem does it all, and does it well. Perhaps more impressive is the fact that this track comes off the bands debut, Divinity.
Currently Noctem is working on a follow-up to Divinity, spending long hours in the studio and promised to reveal more details about the album in the near future. I’d highly suggest visiting the bands MySpace page and familiarizing yourself with the whole Divinity if you enjoyed what you heard/saw above. While you’re there, have a look at their merch store where you can pickup any number of well designed shirts, hoodies, girly t’s, or their record.
New Video || Leaves’ Eyes- Take The Devil In Me
Wed, 09/01/2010 - 12:53 | by JDeathscriptHere’s the new Leaves’ Eyes video for the track Take The Devil In Me off their latest album, Njord. Enjoy.
New Video || The Acacia Strain- The Hills Have Eyes
Wed, 09/01/2010 - 11:20 | by JDeathscriptI don’t much care for The Acacia Strain but I absolutely must give it up to them for the To Catch A Predator inspired video they released today for The Hills Have Eyes. The video was directed by no other than David Brodsky who, after a quick search, you’ll realize is responsible directing tons of music videos, mainly in the metalcore world.
The track in the video comes off the bands most recent album, Wormwood, out now on Prosthetic Records.
New Video || Witchery- Conqueror's Return
Tue, 08/31/2010 - 16:02 | by JDeathscriptNew Video || Impending Doom- There Will Be Violence
Tue, 08/31/2010 - 10:45 | by JDeathscriptImpending Doom took it like champs this summer when they decided to film the video above for There Will Be Violence, in the middle of an Arizonan desert where the temperature peaked at 117 degrees. I cannot begin to imagine how not fun wearing all black and jumping around in that furnace was. We're talking serious ball-sweat, chaffing, shitty moods, and sun burned dudes. The film crew was luck there wasn't ‘violence’.
There Will Be Violence is the titled track off ID’s latest album, released in July on Facedown Records.

Another New Video || Veil of Maya- Unbreakable
Mon, 08/30/2010 - 12:18 | by JDeathscriptVeil of Maya have certainly changed their trajectory some since their early years, settling snugly into their own groove, shedding some of the typical "core" staples, and writing solid records. While it might be a stretch to number me among this young band’s fan base, I can say without doubt; I don’t hate them -- at least not nearly as much as I do some of their label mates.
It’s clear that despite my feelings about them, the kids love ‘em. Earlier this year their latest album, [id], sold over 5,000 copies in the first week and jetted to the top of Billboards Heatseekers chart in April. The video above features the second track on [id], Unbreakable, in a rather unremarkable way, packaged nicely for the myspace crowd.
Enjoy, or not -- I don’t really care.
