Dark Tranquillity, Omnium Gatherum & Exmortus Live in SLC

This last weekend, Salt Lake City, Utah had the privilege of hosting Dark Tranquillity, Omnium Gatherum and Exmortus live in concert.  I would like to apologize to all the bands for having to play "In The Venue", it not the greatest venue SLC has to show. Never the less all the bands killed it and it was one of the best shows that we have seen in a long time.

Exmortus

I had little knowledge of Exmortus and who they were.  All I can say is wow.  They came out, shredded the shit out of their guitars and the crowd love it.  I had no idea how talented these guys were.  If any of you haven't checked out Exmortus, please do as soon as you can, you will not be disappointed.  You can start with their recent released album called 'Slave to the Sword' via Prosthetic Records.

Omnium Gatherum

Omnuium Gatherum is supporting their latest album they released last year called 'Beyond'. This album also topped my list for Best Heavy Metal Albums of 2013.  I wasn't sure what to except and I had no time to think about it.  Lead singer Jukka Pelkonen came out and worked the crowd to perfection.  My colleague and I decided that his hands are permanently in the horns up position.  Yes he's that metal.

Dark Tranquillity

Living legends of the genre melodic death metal, Dark Tranquillity would not disappoint. Even losing their bassist last year didn't discourage them, they headed out on tour without one.  This North American tour was in support of their tenth studio album 'Construct', which also made my 2013 list of Best Heavy Metal Albums at number six.

Dark Tranquillity are straight up professionals.  Everyone was brining it.  Lead singer Mikael Stanne was phenomenal, guitarist Niklas Sundin and Martin Henriksson were on point, drummer Anders Jivarp was pounding the bass and Martin Brändström was laying keyboard melodies over it all.  I personally could have used more vintage songs from their long list of collections.  Everyone at the show, including myself, didn't seem to complain about the set list that was given.
