Cradle Of Filth Announces New Album Title: Darkly Darkly Venus Aversa

Share

Initially, unless I was sorely mistaken, didn’t Cradle of Filth say the title of their new record would be All Hallows Eve? That’s what I was told, and given the late October release date I didn’t think to question the validity of that claim. Still, regardless of whether that was ever the album’s title or  merely reckless speculation the band announced today that the official working title is to be Darkly Darkly Venus Aversa. The record is described by the band in a press release as:

“a full-blown concept album, based on Adam's first wife, the lascivious Demoness Lilith; throwing Medieval nuns, Knights Templars, Greek mythology and lashings of sex, occult lore and violent bloodshed into the smelting pot, to create a darkly erotic nightmare set to their unique scope of supreme vampyric metal."

Darkly Darkly Venus Aversa is scheduled to drop on October 22 through the band's own AbraCadavar Records (a division of Peaceville).

I'm wishing for the best.. cause after Thornography I've been scared they may make something crappy again. But I was impressed by Godspeed, let's hope this album is good, or better :D

I only have The Halls of Eternity by them which gave me a really bad impression. Their 1994 album gets a lot of praise while everything after, besides their latest album, got pretty poor reviews. I'll have to explore the rest of their discography.

Here's an edit for you: it would appear Nick Barker, the old drummer for CoF, has been with the band since 2009. They haven't released anything since 2004 though and I haven't seen them touring or anything. Strange.

Fair enough. I've never heard of Ancient. Any good?

Well, I gave them a listen and, they're not for me. I'm not into the riffs, and I'd better compare this guy to the vocalist of Ancient. Thanks for recommending them at any rate.

I know I have heard a song of their's, album artwork was stormy with a dark figure in the middle maybe? Really vaguely remember. Thanks though, I'll give them a listen.

Also I have been busting my bones trying to get down Dani's high-pitched scream, I'll manage a perfect one here and there but in most cases it's weak, I haven't got control over it quite yet.

You really ought to check out a band called Tvangeste, in particular their album Firestorm. Their in the vein of Dimmu and CoF but mostly CoF. The vocalist reminds me of Danni (albeit not as good)- all in all they're a really solid band.

I gotcha. I had both titles in mind as well, not knowing what to expect. But neither band has really ever disspointed me, they've left me with sort of neutral yet tepid feelings at worst.

It's kinda got me worried to be honest. The title that is. Between Dimmu's announced title and this one I don't know what to think. Truth is, I'll probably be buying them both regardless. I just hope I'm not ddisappointed.

The "All Hallows Eve" title was a misconception by the press, the album was supposed to be released on that day, Halloween. Anyway, I don't know what to make of the title, but it has a vibe of the old CoF to it.
