Cradle of Filth - A Persecution Song | New Song Streaming

Share

Hey kiddos, just a quick heads up. Cradle of Filth has another new song streaming on the player of their mini-site. As with the last couple releases, there isn’t much more than a  45 second clip or so, which is hardly enough time to deduce if the track is worthwhile or not. Still, go on ahead and give it a listen then find your way back here and let us know what you thought.

The track, A Persecution Song, is off Cradle of Filth’s forthcoming record, Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa, due out November 1.

I think that just like all the other samples, they sound totally different from Forgive Me Father, which is my favorite song of theirs since anything off the Nymphetamine album. Everything else on Darkly seems to sound like a very bad copy of Godspeed, very monotonous, badly engineered, and almost like they don't know how to write a song anymore and just rely on constant, super-fast and stale drums. It's fine if they want to have both types of sounds, maybe something very serious for the old fans, and then something catchy for the new fans, but I think people are going to be mad if Forgive Me Father, as a single, makes them think the album is going to have other songs like it on it, then they buy the album and it's completely different and boring. I mean, an album should generally have the same standard all the way through, this one sure doesn't. Either it should be all the way through a boring, serious album, or it should be a fun, catchy album. I just think this album will be the one that sparks alot of anger. I'm beginning to think that Forgive Me Father was some b-side left from the Thornography period, and they decided to throw it in on this album because they couldn't come up with any other good ideas for another single-worthy song. An album really isn't a good one unless every song on it truly could be used in some way as a captivating single, songs shouldn't suck just for the purpose of being 'underground' and I think that with the rest of Darkly Darkly, yet that may be what Cradle are trying to do *suck on purpose to please 1991 fans*. I just don't think it's right, Forgive Me Father sounds better and more natural than anything they've done in awhile, sounds like everything through Midian to Thornography. Godspeed sounded sort of fake and so does the rest of Darkly.

I completely disagree with the person above me. Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa is a great album, and I happen to like both old and new Cradle of Filth. The fact is, I do like old better than new, though. I like the way some of the songs, like The Cult of Venus Aversa, sound somewhat like a mix of the old vocal style and the new. They mixed it up a little. Why the person above me is saying that Cradle is stale and boring, I don't know. Forgive me Father (I Have Sinned) is an okay song, and it's not very interesting to me honestly, but they did a good job with it, and the album as a whole. If you're going to buy the album, it's definitely worth it. Screw the guy before me, and just like them for what they are.
