Ask MCO: Merch

Q: Newbie here, where do you guys usually buy your merch? Band tees and all that.

A: Presently I own exactly two band shirts. Cody, I would guess, has about the same. So we might not be the best people to ask. However, in both cases I believe we bought the shirts direct from the band via a tour stop or their website.

This is the route I suggest you go whenever possible. I don’t know anything about licensing but I think it’s pretty safe to say that bands see more of the profit when you buy merch direct. Stay away from those big-box merch stores except in those cases of rare or discontinued items.

Yes, it’s a bitch to shop this way instead of filling up a virtual cart somewhere but you’re a better fan for doing it.
