Barren Earth- Entire New Album Streaming

Share

Barren Earth goes off like far too many other so-called 'super-groups'--not as good as you anticipated and certainly not super.  Members from Kreator, Moonsorrow, Swallow The Sun and Mannhai all come together in this Finnish project that boasts playing a combination of “elements of modern and traditional (death) metal with ‘70s prog-rock and folk”.  So pretty much Opeth right?  Well, not so much...

Barren Earth would sound like any other radio-friendly commercial outfit if not for the (occasionally) heavy, mid-tempo elements and harsh vocals, expertly (as usual) executed by Swallow the Sun’s Mikko Motamäki. If you are a fan of any of the aforementioned bands, I’m sure you will find this project falling far short of the sum of all its parts.  Still though, take a few moments of your time to check it out, then make your own call and let us know what you think.  You can listen to their new record ‘Curse of the Red River’ in its entirety for the next four days here.

I haven't heard much of their old stuff, so I'll have to take your guy's word for it.

You nailed it. This is not as good of work as it should bee. Much like Immortal's "I" project.
