Heavy Metal Pedigree Chart

I stumbled across this pedigree chart the other day on a Myspace page devoted to extreme metal. I am not sure exactly where this chart originated, and it is by no means comprehensive but it is interesting and a good history lesson nonetheless. The Myspace I borrowed this from is actually chalk-full of information about extreme metal including album recommendations, sub-genre definitions, essays, and pictures. It’s defiantly worth a visit.
