My fist brush with
Eluveitie was rather tragic. I have a bad habit of starting with a bands most recent and making any judgments from there. Big mistake.
Eluveitie’s latest effort “Evocation I-…” is not a good reflection of the bands sound as it is for all intents and purposes an acoustic album. In that context it is a great album from a vastly talented band, but just not my cup of tea. I have to throw a big thank you out to my buddy Andy for turning me back on to this band and their masterwork “Slania”. In a perfect world, Slania, would be the standard by which I judge all folk-metal albums from henceforth, but given it’s immensity- that probably wouldn’t be fair to the other bands.
Eluveitie will suit fans of,
Ensiferum and
Korpiklaani.
