Colosseum/Yearning Frontman Passes Away

Share

The punches to the face of the metal community keep coming.  On May 15 Colosseum Yearning frontman Juhani Palomäki was found dead at 32 years old.  News of his death did not surface until a week and a half later and in the wake of Dio and Paul Gray’s passing, was heavily overshadowed and received less press than deserved.  Juhani Palomäk founded the Finnish doom metal act Colosseum in 2006. Additionally, Palomäki founded Flegeton in 1994 and Yearning in 1996.  Palomäki was revered by many as a brilliant musician and his contributions to an already lugubrious genre will leave those touched by his art feeling and relating to the melancholy he championed sonically.

A facebook memorial page has been set up in this location for those wishing to leave their respects. If you have yet to hear any of Palomäk’s work in Yearning or Colosseum you may do so here and here.
