If you are in any way familiar with the Scion No Label Needed concert series/contest you have probably already heard of Iron Thrones.  If not, this will suffice as your crash corse.   Iron Thrones won the event by taking the majority of votes from a judging panel comprised of writers, agents, and managers.  In winning, the band will receive some dough and lessons on the music industry, how to market themselves and other general help in establishing them as a band without the aid of a traditional label.  I really like the idea, despite the massive amount of backlash artists have received for being involved with Scion.

After you listen to the track Illumination from Iron Throne's first record Visions of Light, I think you will have no trouble seeing why they took home the grand prize.  Later this summer the band will be releasing an EP with the help of Scion and other industry pros titled The Wretched Sun, so look for that here soon.
