Opeth: New Album In The Works

Share

If you are reading this blog and don’t yet know who Opeth is it’s possible you took a wrong turn somewhere between searching for Justin Beiber videos and and disney.com. That’s ok though, stick around. Opeth’s got mass appeal and according to a recent press release are about to expand their catalogue by one when they enter the studio in January to begin work on what will be their 10th full-length album.

Recording is set to begin January 31, with Jens Borgen and Steven Wilson (of Porcupine Tree fame) handling engineering and mixing respectively. This will mark Steven Wilson’s first return to the collective Opeth creative fold since his work on 2003’s Damnation. The new material set to appear on the album has, according to the band’s official website, been described as “good”, though I have sneaking suspicion that’ll prove to be an understatement.

The as yet to be titled album is tentatively expected to be complete in time for a fall of 2011 release through Roadrunner Records.
