Even though Demonical is still in its infancy (two full-lengths and a handful of other recordings), they have good things in store. Much like the long lineage of great Swedish death metal bands that preceded them, Demonical is unconditionally heavy with groovy riffage, insane blast beat tempos and a very capable vocalist to boot. Perhaps formulaic in their approach, Demonical takes their death metal worship to new heights and their latest album, 2009’s Hellsworn is catchy, unrelenting and perhaps most importantly, genuine. Old school in feel but modern in delivery, I would highly recommend taking a hearty listen to Hellsworn today, starting with the track Baptized in Fire that appears in the video above.
