Guitarist Gary Moore, Dead at 58

Share

Some sad new came in today and it's not just that the Steelers lost the Super Bowl.  According to a report on BBC, the legendary guitarist Gary Moore of Thin Lizzy passed away in a hotel room in Spain while on holiday. He was 58 years old.

For those that don't know, Thin Lizzy is a sort of heavy metal/hard rock outfit that's been around since the late 60s. Moore was not an active member of the band at the time of his death but had contributed to eight of the bands fifteen records. Additionally, Gary preformed on a total of 20 solo records and a plethora of others for bands including Colosseum II and Skid Row (not to be confused with the glam band of the same name).

Through the years Moore's legacy has influenced some of YOUR favorite metal bands from Opeth to Metallica, Down to Mastodon. He will be missed and our thoughts go out to the family and friends he left behind.
