Shades Of Dusk - Shaped To Symbolize | Call-Out

Cover (front)
Shades of Dusk From: Canada   Discography: ‘Caress The Despair’ (2006), ‘Quiescence’ (2008)   Shades of Dusk is a technical death-metal band currently signed to Prodisk Records. The bands lyrics typically deal with real-life experience and philosophy.   Shades of Dusk is: Joffrey Chouinard- vocals Louis-Philippe Leroux- guitar Julien Rodrigue- bass Sebastien Pilon- drums   Shades of Dusk have been a sort of sleeper-hit machine since their inception in 2006. Passing under even our own radar until last week when they came recommended to me from a reader on last.fm, the band has already released two full lengths and shared the stage with some impressive names. Melodic, fast and absent of those pesky breakdowns, Shades of Dusk is a far cry from many of the ‘core-acts’ they get lumped together with. Deathscript tested, Deathscript approved.   For fans of: Archons, Light This City   Links:   http://www.myspace.com/shadesofdusk

Light This City - Fear of Heights | Call-Out

Band/Orchestra
Light This City From: San Francisco, USA
Discography:  “The Hero Cycle” (2003), “Remains of the Gods” (2005), “Facing the Thousand” (2006), “Stormchaser “(2008)   Light This City was a melodic, death metal band with thrash elements. The band was signed to Prosthetic Records and when they broke up in early 2008 they had the following members:   Laura Nichol- vocals Brian Forbes- guitar Ryan Hansen- guitar John Frost- bass Ben Murray- drums.   Light This City, may they rest in piece, was one of my favorite bands back in the day. They had a simplistic and straightforward approach to metal- something we don’t see often enough. Light This City always knew how to pack a punch with guest musicians on their albums from Trevor Strnad (The Black Dahlia Murder) to Chuck Billy (Testament). Most of the members of LTC have since gone on to do other musical projects so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Light This City - The Unwelcome Savior Video | (R.I.P.)

Talking about the now defunct Light This City, is a touchy subject for me. I was introduced to them late in their 7 year career and when they announced their break up in 2008, I had not gotten my fill. So from time to time I am going to bring them out of the vault for you all to hear. Relevant metal is relevant, regardless of if the band sold out, and stopped making good music (Metallica) or just stopped making music,  up in this case. Enjoy!
