Shiny Pennies || Elffor - Grimmest Winternights

  • Artist: Elffor
  • Title: Grimmest Winternights
  • Album: From the Throne of Hate
  • Track: 6
  • Year: 2004
  • Length: 7:32 minutes (13.88 MB)
  • Format: MP3 Stereo 44kHz 256Kbps (CBR)

With a little over 4,000 listeners (on last.fm), Elffor is a pretty obvious candidate for this weeks shiny penny.  Elffor has churned out nine (mostly self-released) albums since its inception in 1998, but sadly has received very little public praise for his cold Summoning-esque black metal.  In 2009, this Spanish one-man BM project was featured in ‘... and In The Darkness Bind Them’, a Summoning tribute featuring the likes of Theudh, Sarratum and more.
Elffor is a shining example of the ambient black metal genre at its best, but don't take my word for it.  Above, you can hear the track ‘Grimmest Winternights’ off the 2004 album ‘From The Throne of Hate’ and if you register with Metal Call-Out you can even download the track on us.  You can still purchase any of Elffor’s great albums on his official website, including the limited Summoning tribute.

Even though its a one man show, it sounds just that... Its so simple it really has no awe-inspiring features to it.

This is good, but his song on the Summoning tribute was pure shit. Also whoever covered Land of The Dead was not very good. The Mirror did the best on that album. Period.
