Metal Can Look Good Too... || Mastodon- Leviathan

Share

I'm not a huge fan of Mastodon's recent music but regardless, they have great album artwork.  Case in point, the art found above for their 2004 album ‘Leviathan’.

Designed by Paul Romano, the cover is just a section of a larger painting reflecting the literary influence of Moby Dick, the paintings of Hokusai as well as the album's musical content.  After designing this cover, Romano was skyrocketed into one of the most sought after artists and has since contributed to albums for the likes of Godflesh, Earth and Dead to Fall.  You can see the full version of the ‘Leviathan’ cover after the jump.

It's shame they couldn't fit the entire painting on the album cover.
